
Dr. Norman Blackaby grew up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and Vancouver, British Columbia. He left Canada to attend Hardin Simmons University, where he received a BBS degree in History and Criminal Justice. Dr. Blackaby received a Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages and a Ph.D. in Biblical Background and Archaeology from Southwestern Seminary. He served with Blackaby Ministries International for six years and was a Senior Pastor for two churches. In addition, he taught as an Adjunct Professor for the Canadian Baptist Seminary and for eleven years as a Professor at Dallas Baptist University.
He enjoys investing in churches and speaking at conferences. Blackaby is the co-author of several books, including Encountering God Study Bible, Character: The Heartbeat of a Disciple’s Heart, Encounters with God: Transforming Your Bible Study, Experiencing Prayer with Jesus, and Called and Accountable: Discovering Your Place In God’s Eternal Purpose. He has also written numerous discipleship studies and books.
Dr. Blackaby is a Professor of Christian Studies at East Texas Baptist University and enjoys serving as an Interim Pastor at local churches.
